No matter how well I prompt, Gemini (and Bard), ChatGPT (and Bing Chat) still produce lots and lots of incorrect and sometimes totally made up answers with no relation whatsoever with reality. I can’t imagine using any of these tools to do anything really serious. ChatGPT is unable to read a list with some 100 countries and separate them by continent . Gemini created a list for me with half a dozen scientific papers - with full references and access links - that don’t actually exist. When you point these things out the AI chat always responds “oops! My bad! Thanks for pointing that out!” Or, as was the case with Gemini, “oh , I actually didn’t find what you asked so I made these responses up to give you something”. It feels like these things will destroy the world not after they get super intelligent, but rather before they stop being totally dumb.

This is my entire experience with AI. Huge promises, try it, doesn't work as promised. In the company i work at, everyone is also AI AI AI AI at the moment. But every single time we tried to implement it to our workflow, the result was garbage. But strangely nobody is realizing it is the AI that is not working. They are all convinced we are just using it wrong. While AI can actually do some cool things, the whole hype and the expectations they are setting are absolute one hundert percent a lie to boost these companies. As of now, AI is a huge scam.

If computer is good enough to understand human language without having the need of translation, then you can just talk to it. Now, not everyone can give a clear enough instruction, even human to human, let alone giving clear instructions to AI. In order for you to instruct someone (or now, something), you need to understand him/her/it. You still need to learn logic. After all, computers programming is a form of communication art, instead of talking to a human and asking them to do something for you, you are asking a machine to do that. You will still need people with knowledge of logic and reasoning.

What we will see however is massive production of AI-written and AI-powered software at two extremes: entry-level websites (all these people that were supposed to be online or have digital processes 10 years ago but never got around it) and established companies using AI to provide more personalized solutions by digging through their data at scale using AI. Both of these developments will create additional demand for software developers. Just like when people start their e-commerce business with wordpress and then needed bespoke solutions as they grow. Established companies seeking to use AI, will also need developers to develop these features. The world will need more software developers not less, at the very least because there will be way more companies having their own bespoke software.
